The Pledge to Our Keiki Student Ambassador Program empowers motivated students to inspire their peers and communities to protect Hawaii’s natural beauty and resources. Together, we can create a lasting impact and ensure our islands thrive for generations to come.

Meet our 2024-2025 Student Ambassadors


The Student Ambassador Program, launched in 2023, is now in its second year. These students are part of a growing movement of young leaders across Hawaiʻi, championing the Pledge to Our Keiki and inspiring meaningful action in their schools and communities through youth-led service projects.   • Kenzie Nakamura

    As a female athlete, we have a lot of shortages of people in sports and I believe researching this problem will lead to healthier and happier people.

    I started a committee called KHS Talent where 40+ students and staff perform live music every month for the community to watch for free!

  • Sabrina Smith-Ryland

    I am starting a drive for the Humane Society, to provide food, supplies, and other items.

    Aiming to help others realize the best versions of themselves while creating equitable opportunities for students throughout the state to succeed.

    This project is my way of spreading positivity and showing that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference in our community.

    It’s unfair for politicians and government workers to make decisions that directly affect the youth without getting their point of view.

    I have committed to this project to contribute to the restoration of the land that has given us so much. It is time to give back, take action, and preserve the unique beauty and culture of our island for many more generations to come.

    I am helping with Her Sport, Her Voice to to make sure that girls feel empowered and have the confidence they need to join sports in their schools.

    I want to promote and create educational programs for the proper maintenance of free-roaming cat colonies.

    I hope through my efforts as an ambassador the disparity between our consciousness with the environment will be reversed through our joint efforts as a community, rather than one person alone.

    I joined Pledge for our Keiki to get student voices heard in local politics, to encourage fellow girls in sports, and to make the future we want to see for Hawaiʻi!

  • Aaliyah Gerard

    I am hoping to start an annual event where we visit a middle school and help middle school athletes connect with the high school athletes to help them get integrated into our high school athletic programs to help increase athletic participation.

  • Kelsey Loree

    I’ve always been interested in crafting and helping others. I want to create a group where students can come and spend time and interact with kupuna or anyone interested in crafting.

  • Danielle Nicole Coloma

    Through this project, I hope to promote animal welfare to a bigger audience, emphasizing the point that everyone deserves love and care, especially our furry companions.

  • Clara Steele

    Hilo High is championing the effort to beautify and reduce pollution in our Liliuokalani Ponds, a staple of our town’s Japanese Liliuokalani gardens. We create and toss Genki Balls into the pond to promote bioremediation.

  • Lillian Chau

    I hope through my efforts in teaching elementary and middle school students essential CPR and AED awareness skills we are able to empower young learners with life-saving knowledge to respond confidently in emergencies.

  • Mariella Wasserman

    Many people want to help the environment but don’t know how. Therefore, this is a way to get people involved without them having to go the “extra mile” necessarily.
