Pledge Signature events

Our Pledge Signature Events help partners create customized, high-profile, and high-impact service projects. These events are tailored to your preferred locations and focus areas, ensuring meaningful community engagement.

Kanu Hawaiʻi has a long history of organizing both single-location and multi-island Signature Events for partners. These events transform the Pledge To Our Keiki—crafted by Hawaiʻi’s youth as a call to care for the islands—into meaningful action, turning words into lasting impact.

Why host a Pledge Signature Event?

These events create high-impact, community-driven experiences that showcase your organization’s commitment to the Pledge, youth empowerment, and Hawaiʻi’s future. They provide an opportunity to engage directly with local communities, foster meaningful partnerships, and contribute to long-term sustainability efforts.

Southwest Airlines x Lahainaluna Pledge Signature Event

A notable Pledge Signature Event took place in March 2024, when Southwest Airlines partnered with us to celebrate their five-year anniversary in Hawaiʻi. The service event was held at Lahainaluna High School on Maui, focusing on restoring the school’s agricultural grounds to support replanting efforts in Lahaina.

Pre-event planning

1

Create a landing page

We created a custom Pledge To Our Keiki landing page to introduce the event, explaining its purpose, participants, location, and timing. This page invited people to sign the Pledge and take action—either by joining the Signature Event or, afterward, connecting with volunteer opportunities across Hawaiʻi.

2

Encourage sign-ups

After signing the Pledge, participants had the option to sign up directly for the event or explore additional volunteer opportunities tailored to their interests.

3

Spread the word

Participants were encouraged to share their custom Pledge Signature image on social media, using event-specific tags to amplify the visibility of the effort.

Team effort

Collaborating with Southwest Airlines, we focused on revitalizing Lahainaluna High School’s agricultural land. Through our Pledge Ambassador Program, we partnered with the school’s Agricultural Learning Center, led by Coordinator Nathan Pallet, to prepare the land for growing native lei flowers, plants, and trees for Lahaina’s replanting initiatives.

Once the date and details were set, we expanded our collaboration by inviting organizations, local businesses, and key officials to enhance the event’s reach and impact. This included:

Team Rubicon
Provided expertise in disaster response and community resilience.

HouseMart Ace Hardware
Supplied materials and support for the restoration projects.

Herc Rentals
Offered equipment essential for the day’s activities.

Maui Gold
Contributed resources to support the agricultural efforts.

Maui Mayor Richard Bissen
Participated actively alongside volunteers and emphasizing the importance of revitalizing native plants to restore culture and community.

Pledge Ambassadors
Students from Maui High, Baldwin High, Kamehameha Schools, Waldorf, and Seabury Hall, played a crucial role. Notably, Anais Conley-Kapoi, an Ambassador and junior at Kamehameha Schools Maui, was instrumental in organizing and volunteering for the workday event.

Press coverage

Our press outreach and media engagement efforts resulted in coverage by Maui Now, which detailed the day’s activities and featured insights from participants. This exposure highlighted the collaborative efforts to restore Lahaina’s agricultural heritage, brought broader awareness to the Pledge, and showcased Southwest Airlines’ commitment to environmental stewardship and community service in Hawaiʻi.
