Kauai Animal Education Farm

What We Do

We, as residents on a remote island, experience firsthand the devastation from insufficient food security, inadequate mental health options, and a disconnection to the natural world. We also know the negative impacts that introduced species have on farmers, businesses, and residents. Our goal is to educate our community on our own responsibility as stewards of the land. First, KAEF takes in farm animals so that they are not released into our ecosystem. Second, KAEF offers programs for the community to engage and learn from friendly animals through services such as visits, tours, enrichment programs, and adoptions. In addition, the land not utilized by the animals grows medicinal, edible, and over 20 species of native trees & plants that serve as food security, teaching tools, and habitats for native species. KAEF is a safe place for animals as well as people. This is a place for others to be able to gain tangible life skills and build their characteristics to become healthy, caring, contributing stewards.

KAEF serves as the only farm animal rescue on Kaua’i that offers diverse services to address the multitude of needs of our community. The mission of KAEF governs our daily actions, which is; With the spirit of ho’opono (to make proper), programs are designed to provide interaction, stewardship and education of the symbiotic relationships between animals, land and people.
