Weed Warrior Wednesday at Kapapapuhi
Hui o Hoʻohonua
Weekly Volunteer Oppportunity
Join us every Wednesday from 8:30am-11:30am at Kapapapuhi Point Park.
The Weed Warrior Wednesday project has been a proud extension of HOH since 2019. This volunteer opportunity happens weekly at Kapapapuhi Point Park from 8:30am-11:30am. You will work with our crew in an intimate volunteer experience where you can learn knew skills, brush up on old ones, and further build your relationships to ʻāina and your neighbors in the ʻEwa moku.
Weed Warrior Wednesdays are recommended for volunteers with little to some experience in conservation and/or restoration fields but all are welcome! Tasks will be worked on at a more elevated level than expected during normal community workdays. Weed Warrior Wednesday is not only a great way for work to be done consistently, it is an amazing opportunity for our team to exercise their leadership skills. Join our field crew to learn how to use different tools/equipment, learn more about the native flora and fauna in the park, and host other community members who are getting started.
Here is a list of general tasks you can expect:
- Grass whipping/Weed whacking
- Chainsaw work (Please email certification to Kyleena.simeona@hoh808.org; this is important information for safety planning)
- Filling green waste bin (Lifting: +25lbs at a time)
- Supporting Native Bird: Bird monitoring, Building bird habitat, Invasive predator trapping, etc.
- Removing cali/guinea grass heads
- and more!
Mahalo for considering this opportunity and we hope to see you soon. Please email us for more information and scheduling.
