As we continue with our ongoing building renovation, we’re in need of assistance with packing, moving, and organizing our warehouse where we store donated equipment. Our goal is to create a more orderly space, featuring designated areas for computer education, a retail section offering computers, laptops, TVs, printers, and various devices at affordable or no cost to those in need. Additionally, we aim to establish a kitchen and laundry area for both volunteers and patrons requiring these facilities, along with a tech-bench for essential repairs and maintenance.

Throughout the fall and into this winter 2024, we’re also committed to our ’get Maui back online’ initiative, which involves providing up to 300 desktop computers, monitors, webcams, keyboards/mice, and necessary cables to individuals impacted by the recent fire. These resources will enable them to regain internet access for various purposes such as business, education, personal use, and recreation.

Tasks involved in this project include cleaning, memory testing, RAM upgrading, installing new storage drives, replacing CMOS batteries, and updating the Windows operating system. This presents an excellent opportunity for those interested in computer hardware to gain practical experience and valuable IT skills beneficial for both academic and professional endeavors.

Volunteer hours for Nov 1st through Dec 31st, 2024, are from 10 am to 6 pm any day of the week (with Holiday exceptions), and you’re encouraged to join us for as long as you can. Please email carissa@HawaiianHope.org or curtis@HawaiianHope.org with your name and what day and time you would like to volunteer so we can get you on the schedule! This is a warehouse environment. We recommend closed toed shoes and long pants. Please prepare a lunch or snacks if you think you might get hungry during your visit (Food Land is right behind our building in Kalihi) and if you have any allergies to please let us know! Your contribution, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated.
