Benefits of Volunteering

Scouting volunteers come to Scouting from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Plumbers, lawyers, housewives, teachers, doctors, janitors, and scientists—people from just about every occupation imaginable—are involved in leading youth to become responsible, caring, and competent citizens. They also quickly discover that Scout volunteering enables them to learn new skills and build lifelong friendships while having fun.

You Benefit, Too.

Whether you wish to volunteer your time with elementary school–age boys or middle and high school–age youth, Scouting America, Aloha Council has a volunteer opportunity that is right for you. In addition to the reward of working with youth, through volunteering for Scouts you will:

  • Develop a greater level of pride in your community.
  • Have the opportunity to demonstrate moral and ethical decisions.
  • Build a closer bond with your children and other children in the community.
  • Become a better role model image for youth in your community.
  • Develop a more personal relationship with God.

Volunteering with Scouting America, Aloha Council enables you to work with youth to build a better future for everyone.

Mission, Vision & Impact

National Mission:

The Boy Scouts of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations that offers effective character, citizenship, and personal fitness training for youth. To service others by helping to instill values in young people and, in other ways, to prepare them to make ethical choices during their lifetime in achieving their full potential. The values we strive to instill are based on those found in the Scout Oath and Law.

Aloha Council Mission:

Aloha Council Boy Scouts of America delivers the promise of Scouting to youth in Hawaii on the island of Oahu, Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii, and in the US territories of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

The council, headquartered in Honolulu, serves these areas with offices located in Wailuku, Hilo, Guam, and American Samoa.

Aloha Council has 157 Scouting units chartered by over 80 different community groups that include civic, non-profit, religious, educational and business organizations across the Pacific region.

Our Vision

Aloha Council is recognized as the premier youth leadership organization in Hawaii and the Pacific instilling the Scout Oath and Law in youth while incorporating traditional Hawaiian values of KULEANA (responsibility), KOKUA (teamwork) and MALAMA KA AINA (respect for the land) with ALOHA.
