Volunteer in the Forest

Ohia Ridge Farm

Spend the day on the slopes of Mauna Kea at 3300’ in Hawaiʻi’s ʻohiʻa forest. A scenic paved road leads to our 41-acre farm…visit the post and beam greenhouse, learn about native trees and shrubs, plant seedlings to diversify the existing montane forest…listen for the call of the ʻōmaʻo and help preserve habitat for Hawaiʻi’s rare plants and native birds.

Specifics:

We host volunteers on weekends August through May and weekdays June 1 through July 31. Opportunities include: potting seedlings, planting trees and shrubs, weeding and watering. We begin at 8 a.m. and end at noon. Lunch is provided. Please bring a hat/sunscreen, rain gear-if needed, sensible shoes and a water bottle. We provide water, gloves, and equipment. Thank you for your support.
