Weekly Lydgate Park Beach Cleanup
Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park
We have a lot of fun with great people at the Saturday Beach Cleanups. We provide tools, work gloves, coffee and treats, we just need you!
This group meets weekly, 8:30 am near the lifeguard tower in front of Morgan Pond. All are welcome to come out and join in and stay to talk story after we work.
Morgan Pond was a passion for the late John Lydgate who spent hours pulling driftwood and debris from the water so keiki had space to swim.
Many of the present-day volunteers share stories about how they came to be involved because of a chance meeting with John Lydgate as he walked around picking up trash in the park.
Many still talk about his passion for the park and the vision he had to bring the community together through the playground, play bridge, beach, pavilions and more.

About the organizer
Every Saturday morning, we meet at Morgan Ponds at Lydgate Beach Park on the east side of Kauai to maintain and preserve the beach and surrounding area. We meet near the lifeguard tower at 8:30 am and finish at approximately 10:30 am. We serve coffee and treats during cleanup and enjoy some time hanging out with friends. Volunteers can also win prizes in our weekly drawing just for coming out to help.
Be sure to come sign in with us as we track volunteer hours and give them a monetary value, and we have a drawing at 10:30 for all volunteers thanks to Dave Lister and Star 94.3.
* We have gloves and provide tools
* Bring a Water Bottle or Flask, sunscreen, and come make new friends.
The work we do is friendly to all ages and abilities. If you can’t lift anything heavy, perhaps you can rake leaves, pick up trash, or help with snacks and coffee.
We welcome groups of all kinds: families, youth groups, high school groups, church groups, work teams, you name it!
