Mālama Mala – Garden Workday – Nov. 3, 2024
Hiʻipaka LLC, Waimea Valley
Come help us with the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens and cultural sites of Waimea Valley.
The workdays are from 9am-12:30pm. Potential tasks include removing unwanted plants and invasive species, and removing excessive, fallen, or dried, dead leaves and fronds.
Tools and gloves will be provided. An RSVP is required.
Schedule for the morning:
- 9:00am – Meet in the Visitor Center area near the large, illuminated map of Waimea Valley, sign waiver
- 9:15am – Oli protocol and overview
- 9:30am – Walk to the work location, begin project
- 12:15-12:30pm – Finish project, gather tools and wrap up – once we are finished, volunteers are welcome to enjoy and explore the valley for the day.
Recommended clothing and supplies:
- Refillable water bottle
- Closed toe shoes (required)
- Wear appropriate clothing for gardening/yardwork
- Insect Repellant
Ages 12 and up. Any volunteers under 18 will need to have a parent or guardian accompany them to volunteer. Work will be outdoors and in the elements.

Waimea Valley is looking for individuals and groups to volunteers to help with a variety of tasks in the Valley. Tasks include activities such as weeding, invasive species removal, cultural site maintenance, facilities maintenance, and native forest restoration.
