Seeking Volunteers
Islands Hospice
Hospice Volunteer Program
- Volunteering is fulfilling and meaningful – Being a hospice volunteer is one of the most deeply rewarding and enriching ways to give back to your community.
- Receive comprehensive training – All volunteers receive comprehensive training to become a confident and caring volunteer. You’ll learn about end-of-life care and how we work to bring comfort to patients and their families.
- It’s convenient and flexible – Islands Hospice serves residents in practically every neighborhood across O‘ahu and Maui. You can choose the time and locations that work best with your schedule.
- Support Volunteer: These volunteers work in the office, completing primarily administrative tasks that help us accomplish the work of caring for patients and their loved ones.
- Companion Volunteer: These volunteers work primarily in homes and facilities, interacting directly with patients and their loved ones. They offer friendship, help with household tasks, assist with facility activities, and help family caregivers tend to other needs.
- Event Volunteer: If you like special events, this is the volunteer role for you! Event volunteers help us to plan and execute events for our staff, volunteers and patients, and are crucial in putting together our annual remembrance ceremony.
- Specialist Volunteer: If you have a special gift or talent you’d like to share with our patients, families and staff, this is a great place to start. Specialist volunteers help play instruments, provide pet therapy, help with lei making and lead other crafts.
If you are interested in information about a specific position or want to find out more, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Donna Saymon (dsaymon@islandshospice.com) or click the button to submit an application.
