AARP Zero Isolation Group Navigator

Description
The role of the AARP Group Navigator was designed to provide additional support to group participants each week including prior to the start of the 6-week sessions (virtual or in-person, 3-week for telephonic). The focus of this role is to provide a constant connection each week that is independent of the role of the group Facilitator. Each group of participants will have a Facilitator(s) and Group Navigator(s) that will work together to meet the needs of the 6-week session (virtual/in-person).
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a support to the group Facilitator(s) for each groupBuild an initial connection with group members via phoneHelp with technology – briefly explain Zoom and how to connect using itSet up and Connect with them via ZoomAnswer basic questions about the programEncourage the person to attend the first sessionRemind them that you will be present at the first session of the group as their support in starting togetherHelp participants connect to the concept of the programProvide weekly follow-up after each session to check-in and provide support as needed
Qualifications
Successfully completed the training and be certified as an AARP Zero Isolation Group NavigatorA solid understanding of the technology – (e.g. Zoom and how to connect, functions and breakout rooms in order to instruct others)A desire to support participants in their goals in developing skills to socially integrate into their community and connect with othersThe ability to clearly articulate and communicate information in a conversational formatA computer with video conferencing capability and computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat and other standard applicationsFamiliarity with web-based learning and facilitatingA commitment to the goals, polices and priorities of AARP

Time Commitment
Initial Training sessions (10 hrs. total) 20-30 min for initial call 10-20 min per week (in between sessions) to call and follow up with participants 90 min for week 1 and week 2: to be present at the first and second group sessions to meet and interact with the participants you are working with as well as participate when appropriate.
