Become a Warehouse Volunteer


Helping Hands Hawaii

Helping Hands Hawaii is in need in regular volunteers who are interested in a warehouse setting. Volunteers will sort out items that are donated at our warehouse to determine if the items are able to be used by our individuals and families. Occasionally, volunteers will also help with donors who are in need of assistance with their items in their vehicles as well.

DUTIES:

  • Greeting donors at our Donor Gate and accepting donations that are dropped off
  • Offering tax receipts and completing Warehouse copies
  • Ensuring tax receipts have correct details (i.e. number of items donated, name, date, etc.)
  • Greeting clients and helping them getting things off the warehouse floor
  • Lifting items that are 20lbs+
  • Sorting donations between donor drop-offs

Requirements

  • Complete volunteer application
  • Background check
  • Attend orientation and training
  • Volunteers younger than 18 must have adult supervision

Expectations

  • Absence: Minimum of 24-hour notice to allow for schedule/task readjustment for the day.
  • Volunteering: Must commit 2+ hours per shift. To be considered a regular, volunteers must commit to 4 hours a week for two months or longer.
  • Clothing: Casual clothing is acceptable but should be tasteful and family friendly. Wear close toed tennis shoes. Shorts must be just above or at the knee.

  • You’re welcomed to bringing your own lunch/snacks/water
  • When we have company engagement activities, we love for our volunteers to be involved with the staff

With a mission to connect individuals, families, and organizations with essential human and material resources, Helping Hands Hawai‘i® continues today to provide a vital lifeline for our local community – Helping its members to help one another.
