City and County of Honolulu DFM- Storm water Quality Division
Storm Drain Marking is a simple volunteer activity that involves marking storm drains with a placard that sends a message to the community to keep pollutants out of the storm drain system. It’s an excellent opportunity to educate the public about the link between the storm drain system and water quality to help deter littering, excess fertilizer use, dumping, and other practices that contribute to nonpoint source pollution and urban runoff.

About the organizer
The quality of the water that enters the City’s drainage system directly impacts the health of our island because these waters flow untreated to our natural waterways and ocean.Storm Water Quality Division’s (SWQ) mission is to empower and provide guidance on minimizing our impact on water quality in order to protect public health and the environment. SWQ works with City departments as well as public businesses, agencies, and individuals to foster shared responsibility for protection of our wai (water).

Volunteers must be at least 10 years old to participate (must have at least 1 adult per 3 minors), Participants must sign a release form and all minors must have a parent or guardian sign on their behalf. We also encourage at least 10 volunteers to host an event.
