Limahana (Volunteer) Opportunity for the International Indigenous Librarians Forum taking place November 27 – November 30th, 2023.
Sunday, November 26, 2023 – Set Up at Waimea
-
4:30pm – Set up at Waimea Valley Botanical Garden (59-864 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712)
-
Volunteers needed to help with setting up the tables, chairs, registration area, as well as helping to decorate the area for the forum event the next day.
-
Monday, November 27, 2023 – Day on the Land at Waimea Botanical Garden
-
6:30am – 6:30 pm at Waimea Valley Botanical Garden (59-864 Kamehameha Hwy, Haleiwa, HI 96712)
-
Need volunteers throughout the day, tasks include:
-
Helping with registration tables, welcoming guests as they arrive by bus and directing them to the forum site, floaters to help with other various tasks as needed (throwing trash, replacing food or drinks, helping guests with directions to event sites, etc.,)
-
Monday tentative schedule:
-
6:30am- Limahana/volunteers arrive at Waimea Valley, set up area for showering and registration area
-
8:00 – Arriving at Waimea Valley
-
4 for registration tables
-
2 limahana at the bus welcome area to direct people to the site

9:00 – Breakfast
-
2-3 floaters for
-
-
9:30 – 12:00 – Opening Ceremony & Cultural Exchange
-
4-6 “to help keep guests together, act as directional help

12-1 – Lunch

1-2 standby
-

1:30 – 3:30 – Group Tours and Activities in Valley
-
1-2 Limahana at the two shuttle stations (greeters)
-
1-2 Limahana in the white tents after 1:30pm for receiving attendees

3:30 – 4:30 – Closing
-
4 limahana to guide Delegates to 4 shuttles to take guests back to their residences, should arrive to Honolulu area by 6:30pm

4 limahana, 1 per bus to ensure guests are on shuttles
-
6-8 stay back to clean up and break down

Tuesday, November 28, 2023 – Start of IILF Forum & Lā Kūʻokoʻa Celebration at Hālau o Haumea
Imin Center, East West; Kanewai, Lā Kuʻokoʻa

8:00am – 10:00am – Registration Table- Imin Center (Jefferson Hall, 1777 East-West Rd, Honolulu, HI 96848)
-
Need volunteers to help with checking in guests for registration, also to help with monitoring forum sessions and act as time keepers, other tasks as needed, act as runners to get help from IT.

Special Event: Pāʻina at Kānewai tentative schedule:
-
11:00am – Setup @ Hālau o Haumea, Kamakakūokalani (2645 Dole St, Honolulu, HI 96822)
-
5-10 to help prep signage, tables, chairs, decorate, artist showcase
