At HCT we feel very lucky to attract the amazing and talented staff and volunteers we have! It definitely takes a village to put on these amazing programs and we love to work with teachers in the arts and artists and technicians who love to teach.Theater programs benefit youth in so many ways, including:
- Helping young people grow in self-confidence, ability and maturity
- Teaching creative problem solving skills
- Developing critical thinking
- Encouraging cooperation
- Fostering peer acceptance, mutual respect
- Teaching self-worth
- It is rewarding and fun
- Encouraging responsibility and self-organization
- Teaching self esteem
- Helping to connect with others
- Creating a sense of community
- Teaching empathy and understanding for others
- Acquiring “triple threat” theater skills (singing, dancing, acting) and technical skills related to theatre

HCT plays host to an ensemble of professional artists who bring unique vision and compelling voice to the creation of meaningful theatre for all audiences.
HCT strives to make live theatre a vital part of the childhood experience for all young people on Kauai. Hawai’i Children’s Theatre serves more than 300 young people each year, some through the scholarship subsidy and work study programs. 10,000 children and families attend HCT performances each year.
