Clean Beaches Start at Home – Pledge & Donate
Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi
At Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi, we love cleaning beaches. Over the last 10 years, weʻve removed over a half a million pounds of debris from Hawaiʻi coastlines with the help of 30,000 volunteers. Beach cleanups are an awesome educational tool and a great way to make an impact, but we should also be working on proactive solutions to eliminate plastic pollution at the source.
This is where the Clean Beaches Start At Home Movement comes in. A source of inspiration, a resource guide, an online community, for everyone to take action, everywhere.
Sign the pledge to get started. In order to track our collective community impact, we would like you to register here as a “pledge” to take action. After you’ve signed the pledge, get more involved by participating in our weekly challenges on Instagram. We’ll share your entries on our IG story as we grow the movement! Lastly, sign up to be a recurring donor for as little as $12 a year and you’ll automatically be entered to our monthly raffle for some sweet prizes from our sponsors. Stay tuned on our IG and newsletter for the monthly giveaways.
Want to get started right now? We’ve compiled some ideas below, but the opportunities to ditch plastic are endless! Swap plastic wrap for beeswax wraps, refuse commercially caught fish, switch to shampoo bars, use a bamboo toothbrush, opt to shop secondhand, be Civically active – your voice makes change! These changes and swaps look different to everyone, so we encourage you to share how you are proactively keeping beaches clean right from your own home. Post photos and videos on your social media, use the hashtag #CleanBeachesStartAtHome and be sure to tag @sustainablecoastlineshawaii so we can share your tips and tricks with the rest of our ‘Ohana.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about learning and growing, together. Mahalo nui loa for the support, now let’s get to work. SCH
