Keawawa Wetland Second Saturdays


Livable Hawaii Kai Hui

Every Second Saturday from 8:00 to 11:30am (Orientation in the hale at 8:30am), Dates: April 8th, May 13th, June 10th, July 8th, August 12th, Sept. 9th, Oct. 14th, Nov. 11th, Dec. 9th. Native tree and shrub care and some planting plus wetland enhancement for alae’ula habitat.  Keawawa wetland location: 6888 Hawaii Kai Drive (96825). Bring: Closed shoes, long pants, sunscreen, water container (refillable). Livable Hawai’i Kai Hui (“the Hui”), a community nonprofit that has been caring for Hâwea heiau complex & Keawawa wetland since 2009. The Hui is preserving and teaching traditional Hawaiian cultural practices, restoring the land and introducing people to the property’s powerful history through quarterly talk story sessions with Maunalua.net.

Protecting and educating the community about Maunalua’s natural and cultural resources through land-based engagement.Our mission is to uphold the integrity of the East Honolulu Sustainable Communities Plan which sets guidelines for sensible development respectful of Hawaiian cultural and natural resources that make East Honolulu a unique place to live. Protection of land through stewardship or acquisition and community education and engagement.
